Marine Mammals!

There is a large floating cage system just offshore of Coconut Island that is home to the Marine Mammal program. Because it is not connected to the island, it's not really a place that you can sneak by and peak at. The research done on these animals has something to do with sonar, that's about all I know.

Well, recently they had a an open house to introduce the new baby dolphin born earlier this year. Super cute little guy. Family's were invited so Tanner and I went and were joined by Liz's mom and dad, Stephanie and Jim since they happened to be in town.

The black thing with the white stuff on his back is a False Killer Whale and the white stuff is Desonex to guard against sunburn. Apparently this guy spends too much of his time close to the surface. More than he would in the wild anyway and the UV leads to skin cracking. He seemed jealous of all the attention the baby and the mom were getting.

Another B-day Party for Tanner

This one was at the zoo for a boy in Tanner's class named Kalel. I was hoping the troop would make it to a few of the animals I missed with the school field trip but it was a pretty short loop past a few of the animals close to the party tent so no luck. One of these days...

Still a nice morning though. The weather was great and the kids were super cute.

Kona's Playdate

We recently had a doggie playdate with a couple we met at the Newfie gathering in December. We met at Lanikai park so the Kona and Huxley could run a bit and the Noah and Tanner could play on the super nice playset they have there. Little Noah was so cute feeding the boys treats. Pretty fearless for 2 yrs old :)
